Okay, I'll bite. Tendi works well in a jejune workplace comedy, especially paired against an opposing archetype like T'Lyn for laughs.
Now take a more Trek-like format like TNG or VOY and show me where Tendi can fit as a character without being flanderized into dumbass catchphrases or Manic Pixie Dream Wesley Crusher situations. No coomer stuff. I'm serious. Once you establish she's someone who turned her back on a pirate life for a life of science, where could the character work in a general purpose show vs a comedy? Where could the character work without being BORING?
LD is a funny comedy at times. It even has a bit of heart to it. But it's not on the same tier as a general sci-fi adventure that might occasionally have a comic episode but isn't a wacky screwball hijinks show.

Okay fine. Take a show like SNW that does comedy and plays with genre at times but on balance is a space adventure show. Put Tendi in as a regular character. How would she be an interesting and compelling character besides "I used to be bad but I HECKIN LOVE SCIENCE!" Especially when we already have
