>>211734914>tfw no soulless minions of orthodoxy hounding you
>>211734289 (OP)I'm watching ds9 again, I'll never get over how bad an actor Avery Brooks is.
>>211735025Sometimes, he's awful. Sometimes, he's the man. They figure out how to play to his strengths later.

Mulgrew is a better actor than Brooks on a fundamental level but who gave the more memorable performance?
Somehow it's Avery
>>211735154working automatic doors working turbo lift, sliding chairs, blinking lights and sounds, must have been a ton of fun working on that set
>>211735243I want the alt timeline where Ro laren is on ds9 and nana vistor is janeway
the only bad thing I actually noticed with my upscales so far is this weird pattern in the sand
>>211735531yea I didn't screenshot it but I noticed something similar in the s5 finale, ds9 itself the outer docking ring got this odd pattern kinda like that for a second or two
Would Picard kneel to a monarch? Would Kirk? Sisko wood ent.
I can't say something ridiculous like keevan is better then weyoun but I really wish they had found a way to make him a recurring character, yes I know he shows up one more time, but still he's a fantastic vorta maybe make him an actual traitor and he collaborates with the feds could've been kino
>>211735843I can't imagine Sisko as a tree
>>211735876What about that time Alexander was future trunks?
>>211735843Picard would if it was diplomatically the right thing to do, so would the rest of them if it was just proper etiquette and not some enemy attempting to subjugate them. Who knows what janeway would do? really depends on how much coffee she had that day.
>>211735871>he collaborates with the feds could've been kinohe and Weyoun 6 could have been buddies
>>211736003exactly, keevan decides he has to serve the one founder he can and weyoun 6 and him dedicate themselves to odo, who is just really annoyed by the whole thing, would've been great
>>211736083i really would have liked to see more Vorta interacting with each other in general
>>211736115yep apparently they kept trying to bring back the og female vorta but it didn't work out, still just one ep about vortas, they gave us a bunch about the jem hadar even one to expand on the vorta more would've been really appreciated
OK lets write a vorta centric episode.
Opening is jem hadar and 3 vortas retreating, the jem hadar are getting slaughtered, they retreat to a downed ship or bunker w/e.
One jem-hadar is dying a First and say 2 young jem hadar 6ths, ah fuck it throw in a cardy. They lock down while a klingon strike force is closing in.
The 3 vortas rush to check on something.
Turns out they are defending a changeling infant they have found who can't even shift yet.
Roll opening credits-
>>211735936you mean the time when alexander went back in time to prevent worfs honorable death and doomed worf to cowardice?
the house of mogh deserved better. the house of mogh deserved kurn.

>>211736388>vorta>jem hadar>changelingdude who cares about any of that shit it isn't real trek
>romulans>vulcans>klingonsthose are real trek
>>211736524their would be a lot of trekking like in all of ds9, your irrational unfounded misunderstanding of the series doesn't change anything
>>211736574its all real trek, I get you are the spastic who hates ds9 but has never seen it, that doesn't mean anything, you just provide proof you are a retard with every post you make. ds9 btw had more romulans and klingons then anything in tng btw, certainly a lot more then voy or ent of course.
>>211736445speaking of alexander I just got up to sons and daughters, sigh I really hate alexander I really really do.
>>211736524>posting the Ronald D. Moore/Braga abomination that is First Contact to criticize DS9very interesting indeed
First Contact birthed some real abominations on the Trek world
>angry action movie revenge picard>the borg queen, which they were now forced to integrate into the VOY story as a cross-promotional tool (Thanks, Rick Berman!)
would Vorta actually enjoy each other's company or would they have that petty competitive dynamic of who can slob Founder knob the best because that's their entire identity?
>>211736651vorta, jem hadar and changelings are cringe fanfic garbagio
>star TREK>space STATION
>>211736740it would be a petty competitive dynamic thats what would make an episode so interesting. Thats why I posted my little episode idea, a Founder who is just a baby, Vorta are cowards, they are slavishly dedicated to the Founders, but are under siege with barely any troops, thats why I threw a cardy in their, one of them would start conspiring with the cardy to ditch them all including the infant.
>>211736746You're an idiot. That's like saying you can't make a western TV show centered around a town because Wagon Train exists.
If they made Wagon Train: Dodge City as a spin-off or something, it would've been great. You are gay and retarded and I feel bad for even giving you a bait reply, you Canadian piece of shit.
>>211736746yes you have stated your retarded stance more then once, you've also admitted you've never watched it so their really isn't anything to say except to call you a retard.

>>211736934you are trying to criticize a show you haven't seen, commenting on your lack of intelligence just seems like the logical thing to do.
>you have to taste feces to know it's inedible!
literally you
>>211737007>its feces because i say it is! no I haven't seen it or know anything about it but I made up a story and I'm sticking to it!lol ok buddy
>>211736829>one of them would start conspiring with the cardy to ditch them all including the infant.yeah maybe he's more of the "free thinker" of the 3 and the other 2 are like
>obviously you're defective shut upbut obviously you couldn't trust a Cardy with a baby Changling so yeah it'd be interesting to see how that'd play out
>>211737072>that brown steaming pile "stinks"?>how do you even know, you haven't even tasted a morsel!>i consumed it all and believe me it was delicious!
>>211737145remember there is a First thats dying and is encouraging the newbie Jem Hadar to follow the way of things.
But as an elder he knows 3 vorta in a confined space is not a good idea.
The Klingons are bombarding them, the Cardy is maybe a middling rank not a Gul he's a Glinn. So he's trying to take charge of the 2 noob jem hadar.
I just came up with the idea 10mins ago but it has potential for an interesting episode, in my mind it turns into a double cross triple cross situation, in the end first talks about their sacred duty or w/e to the last vorta whos loyal but wavering, the vorta sacrifices himself to save the founder infant and kill the traitor vorta, and the last one standing is the youngest jem hadar who kills the cardy and saves the infant.
Maybe he stands up to the klingons and they let him pass acknowledging his bravery or he just escapes with the infant founder not sure.
Don't mind him. He's just "EU hours contentious argument" anon. He lives for starting very hostile arguments over very irrelevant topics.
He's not so bad once you realize it's a gimmick.
>>211737402you aren't doing yourself any favors by continuing to post you idiot

>>211737501We've had a few DS9 haters throughout the years. The Mallwalkers guy and of course the legendary PISS & SHIT but only real oldfags will remember.
>>211737557I remember, this is the one who goes with the malltrek approach and he has been at it for years
>>211737545DS9 is antithetical to the concept of Star Trek. Also, it was stolen from JMS after he shopped the series bible for his Trek idea to Paramount. It's vile, its existence is an affront to morals and also common ethics, even Hollywood ethics, and it just isn't Star Trek. It marked the start of the decline of Star Trek. Star Trek has never recovered...
>Marina Sirtis offered the following regarding Roddenberryโs opposition to the concept for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: โThe truth is that if Gene had been alive, DS9 would have never been made, because he absolutely said โnoโ to it when it was presented to him. He said โStar Trek is about exploring space, itโs not about a hotel in space.โ So, it would never have happened.โ
>Majel Barrett criticized [Deep Space Nine] in a letter published in Star Trek Communicator, claiming that Gene Roddenberry would have never approved of a continuing war in a Star Trek series. Rick Berman has espoused similar sentiments, noting that his opposition "was all based purely on the fact that Gene had been very specific to me about not wanting Star Trek to be a show about intergalactic wars, interspecies wars. He didn't want it to be about humans fighting wars against other species." Responding to the former, Ronald Moore admitted, "She's probably right. It would've been very hard to argue Gene into going this way and maybe he'd have never gone for it."
>TAKEI: The people that really understand and love STAR TREK are no longer there. When Gene Roddenbery passed, that really was the end of STAR TREK, as we knew it. The series that came on immediately after was DEEP SPACE NINE, which was the polar opposite of Geneโs philosophy and vision of the future, so STAR TREK lost itโs way then and now the people at Paramount are all new people. Herb Solow who was the executive in charge of Desilu Studios is now a professor in Wales. We became very good friends and we had dinner with him and his wife before they left, and when I was in London last year I saw an article about a Professor Herb Solow! [Laughs] But, basically the people now at the studio have absolutely no connection with STAR TREK as we knew it, sadly.
>>211737762yea its you, the most obnoxious b5fag in existence, your opinion doesn't matter you never watched the show, nothing you say is relevant and it never was.

Put the thread in slow mode, Mr. Scott. That's an order.
>>211737827>Marina Sirtis>Majel Barrett (who was in multiple episodes of ds9)>TAKEII mean its sort of like the opposite of supporting your stance isn't it? you haven't watched the show, your opinion doesn't matter and whats more your attempts to defend your opinion only make ds9 sound better.
>>211737827Uh huh, now where are there comments on the current Trek administration?
>>211737912ok fair point jim best to let him tire himself out
>>211737930kek, that's also a good point. all of the old Trek actors selling their souls and shitting on Trek so they can get a paycheck tells you everything you need to know about an actor's priorities
>hearing people like Robert Picardo and Tim Russ raving about their Nu Trek opportunitiesActors truly are retards that would suck off a greasy trucker in a truck stop bathroom just to get 5 minutes of screen time in a short film that releases straight to Youtube -- especially the older ones who haven't worked in a while.
>Star Trek is about exploring space where all you find is a Nazi Planet, an Ancient Rome planet, a 1920s gangster planet and various other versions of Earth, not war with aliens
ok whatever I guess I don't care that much about if I'm watching "REAL" Trek that much as long as it's good
>>211737407the kid dies fighting and holding the klingons back, in the end one comes to him and says he fought with honor, the klingons take the infant with the implication they will care for it or at least turn it over to the feds.
>>211738081Those TOS episodes are more about studio meddling and complaining about the budget so they used sets/props they already had made from other shows and projects. Back half of S2 and S3 stuff, you saw a lot of this.
anyway that other guy is retarded. is Court Martial not Star Trek because it takes place on a space station and is a trial episode? Is Trouble with Tribbles? Nothing is being explored in either of these episodes, no one is "trekking". There are a ton of episodes of TOS and TNG and everything else like that so that guy is just trying to start arguments to troll and needs to be ignored.

Archer: Where?
Reed: Delphic Expanse, but they were on the move. Current location unknown.
Archer: There is no time to be lost! Enterprise! Starfleet, the enemy is at our door! We know our duty, and we will do it. We fight for our humanity as explorers, as Starfleet officers, and we fight in the name of the Earth! And if we die this day we die in glory, We die heroes' deaths... but no, we shall not die, it is the Xindi who will taste death and defeat, as you know... Most of our MACOs are stationed in space, prepared to deep strike! Our tactical systems have been prepared in the event that the Xindi should be so bold and so foolish. We have placed numerous beacons, allowing for multiple, simultaneous, devastating defensive transporter strikes.
Starfleet regulations designate this maneuver as Human Wave Tactics. We will descend upon the aliens, we will overwhelm them, we will leave none alive! Meanwhile our security teams shall ensure the full defense of our starship. We are the Enterprise, we are Humanity's FURY!

>>211756782>but also has the hottest babes of the franchiselol, no

I'm watching Trek the way it aired, currently bouncing back and forth between Voyager and DS9. Gotta say .... Voyager is better so far. I'm about 1.5 seasons into it and 3.5 seasons into DS9. It's interesting bouncing back and forth.
>>211758467Pff. Not a thicc latina. Your opinion shouldn't be hauling garbage, it should be hauled away as garbage.
>>211759067Phew. I absolutely hate early VOY, I think it's the worst S1-S2 of any Trek series actually, worse than ENT which I believe is an inferior show.
VOY is pretty much on the same trajectory as DS9 for me
>massive improvements in S3>hits its stride in S4
>>211759168I'm also a contrarian on TNG thoughbeit I really don't dislike S1 of that either. Have you ever overlapped seasons 1 and 2 of Voyager with DS9? Maybe it's just the fact that I'm getting little breaks. I just care more about what's happening on that little ship than I do about the space station. DS9 isn't bad, it's just kind of trying too hard to be edgy.
>>211759168Is it at least charming shitty like early TNG? Because itโs the charm that gets me through the shit.
>>211759457Definitely less. I also really hated the Kazon though.
>>211759457I disagree with that guy so right now you're looking at 50/50 odds of early Voyager being good. Just saying.
>>211738289u miss him bro?
>>211759872I still think VOY is good, just not so much S1-S2
>>211759457early tng has a lot going for it you might not notice on a first watch. early eps all adopt the low budgetness of the original, so the sky is a solid red or purple because thats what they have a background for. the rest of the fx arwent good because its low budget and 80s still. and even the music sounds different.
upon rewatches though, you'll see how those things i complained about match better with tos than later tng. let alone the plot of the ep itself you were watching
>>211759948The TOS-ness of S1 TNG is more like the back half of S2 TOS or S3 TOS than the good stuff, though.
It is like TOS, you're right, but TOS at its worst instead of its best.
>>211759944No I'm not saying you're wrong, but I just disagree. I find the Voyager ship ultra comfy. Its been a while since I rewatched it so if it really gets even better than this then holy shit I'm sorry but I have to rank Voyager ahead of TNG.
>>211760100VOY is a really comfy show, I agree, but it doesn't settle into that until S3.
S1-S2 The Doctor is still so uptight and stiff, I think his development does a lot for the comfyness of the show.
>>211760003i think thats agreeable. no one thinks early tng is great. but it has some great qualities you only realize after rewatching
even though tng's story telling got way better, the early lighting, music, tone and even camera angles were way better than later. later stories and eps are much better constructed though
>>211760171tng season 1&2 are great. best seasons of tng
>>211759948Iโm almost done with my first chronological viewing of TNG and I canโt wait to start it over from the beginning. Even though much of the first two seasons are objectively poorly made, they hit me with such a nostalgia for the way television used to be. I really like the stage play quality of TOS and early TNG.
>>211748623oh no tendi avatar fag is back
Iโm an early season enjoyer. The plots are more episodic, the characters are rapidly developing, there are lots of little things that are tried but later on discarded, itโs just so satisfying on rewatches.
>>211760354It's before everyone got flanderized.
>>211760748i wish i was more like you

At oh eight hundred hours, station time, the Romulan Empire formally declared war against the Dominion. They have already struck fifteen bases along the Cardassian border. So, this is a huge victory for the good guys. This may even be the turning point of the entire war. There's even a 'Welcome to the Fight' party tonight in the wardroom. So I lied, I cheated, I bribed men to cover the crimes of other men. I am an accessory to murder. But most damning thing of all, I think I can live with it. And if I had to do it all over again, I would. Garak was right about one thing. A guilty conscience is a small price to pay for the safety of the Alpha Quadrant, so I will learn to live with it.
Because I can live with it.
I can live with it.
Computer, erase that entire personal log.
Archer would have defeated the entire Dominion on first contact with the Founders. He would've blown their world to fucking pieces from the very beginning.

>>211782026What episode of Stargate was this?
>>211782365>LeetaIs she the absolute worst character of DS9? Aside from being pretty, I just hate her presence.
>>211782722Not the worst but she was pretty bad. She was basically the big titty bimbo on ds9 and made no sense tonally.
>>211782937As a gigantic fan of bimbos, I agree entirely. She's enormously out of place.
That and Ira's weird Ferengi culture change, Dukat's character assassination and so on was all very out of place really. Bashir going from naive, socially inept but good-hearted and kind doctor to super genius who's colder than ice was also bizarre. Rom going from bumbling retard brother to savant retard engineer (and landing Leeta..)
>>211782722Leeta is better than Jadzia in season 6 and always better tha Ziyal.
>>211783307Nah, Jadzia stinks but she's still a step above Leeta who was probably fucking Ira on the side or something.

This was so stupidly gratuitous and out-of-sync with Star Trek that I fucking laughed out loud
What the fuck is this, Austin Powers? Good lord, Berman really had no fucking shame during S1 of ENT.
>>211785459still a good episode but yes ENT is constantly gratuitous for no reason but the obvious
>>211785459Oh no an attractive alien woman, this is totally not star trek at all!
>>211785653I think he's just commenting on the silhouette which is straight out of austin powers
>>211785653There's a difference between having sexy characters in sexy costumes and inventing a reason for a character to go behind a sheet backlit like a gag from Naked Gun or Austin Powers.
Subtlety is sexy, desu. I'm not trying to watch porn.

>>211785817Gene wanted there to be dudes fucking in the background of Picard's scenes in Captain's Holiday.
>>211786156Gene had suffered like 10 small strokes by the time TNG started airing. He was giving interviews talking about pedo shit and just random insane ramblings.
I don't put a lot of stock in post-TOS Gene Roddenberry to begin with because he bought into his own hype and started seeing himself like some kind of cult leader, but by the time of TNG he was completely gone mentally and was just being exploited by everyone around him: mostly his lawyer and his wife Majel.
This is how I would rank the seasons of TNG
3 > 2 > 4 > 6 > 5 > 7 > 1
1 is the worst. 2 is severely underrated it has a lot of great character moments and good dialogue. 5 is used to rate much higher but while that season has the best episodes the series ever aired, like darmok and the inner light, it's also has quite few stinkers. 6 is more consistent in quality. 3 is objectively the best theirs not a bad episode in that entire season.
>>2117866933 > 4 > 6 > 7 > 5 = 2 > 1
Q-Who is the absolute best Borg episode and I refuse to hear otherwise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TWKl_EGnHI
>>211786743I know you've got a whole argument queued up for why Best of Both Worlds ISN'T the best Borg episode so just drop the pretense and post it already ya dingus
>>211786743Definitely. It's one of the best episodes of the entire series.
>>211786789Part 2 of best of both worlds just isn't that good imo. It doesn't stick the landing from all the thrilling build up part 1 has. I dunno if there was any way to really make part 2 interesting considering they had to return things to status quo by the next episode in fairness. But it still detracts from the overall experience of the episode.
In q who you have q around to act as deus ex machina to set things back to status quo for the show and it works because q works and John de lancie plays the character so well. The episode can be both scary because of the unknown super power threat of the borg and comedic because of q and Picards interactions. So it's like a really good comedy horror
>>211786964That's the trouble though, isn't it. There IS no way to stick the landing with defeating the Borg. If you introduce a way for them to be defeated, they lose their initial appeal which is this inhuman indefatigable other than is just a nearly unstoppable force of nature, or entirely unstoppable given their level of technology.
They had to bring the Borg back, though. There was way too much fan interest and the writers were also hooked on the whole problem of how to use them.
I think they did about as good as they could do in Best of Both Worlds. If they had just brought in Q at the end to fix it with a snap of his fingers, it would've been worse and having Q-Who as a one-off was clearly never going to be a thing either.
>>211782026He died with his belly full of wine and a mouth around his cock.
who are your favorite "best friends" in Star Trek?
>>211787876As if you need to ask.
>but they're not even friends!Once you've been stripped to your underpants by a couple of alien dudes pretending to be hot chicks, you become friends forever.
>>211786789Because in Q-Who they're an unknown threat who enormously advanced compared to the Federation, and they pose an actual threat. Without Picard swallowing his pride and being a good leader by asking Q for help and admitting that maybe they did suffer from some hubris and complacency they wouldn't have stood a chance as we evidently see. Q makes a good point about the galaxy that sure you can go exploring all you want but don't be surprised if it bites you in the ass eventually. There's actual tension, there's excitement and the conclusion is actually satisfying despite it being an action of Q that saves them. It's a well earnt deus ex machina.
Best of Both Worlds is mostly great, but the shitty "Go to sleep" ending sucks and that episode stops the Borg from being a threat immediately. I stop viewing them as an unstoppable, machinistic cold gestalt consciousness and instead just view them like any other race, just a bit more peculiar than others.
>>211787876After kirk and spock, but tbqh I like all of them, data and geordi, seven and the doctor, even nig and nog, tom and kim is probably the lowest ranked but even they have their moments
Quark and Odo have a great frienemy thing going on.
>>211788010I bet Odo used the holosuite to fuck Quarkhead Kira
>>211787956I would argue O'Brien and Bashir are the best too. Their relationship is really fleshed out well and satisfying to watch. I'm not sure how I feel about Kirk and Spock I'm not done with TOS yet but it feels like Kirk cares way more about Spock than the other way around. He has looked out for him in so many ways at his own expense and I have not really seen it reciprocated. But that in it's own way is an interesting dynamic too.
>>211788185I guess part of that is in the films as well, discounting the films its O'Brien and Bashir
>>211788061is Quarkhead, Nerys' long lost 1/2 ferengi brother?
What are some movies featuring Marc Alaimo in a significant role? I watched Arena (which as him and Quark, funnily enough) but Arena also unfortunately fucking stinks.
>>211788332He has a bit part in Total Recall
>>211788624I'm well aware - but I did ask for significant role.
>>211788798Thatโs was I could come up with off the top of my head, sorry. If only there were some easily searchable repository of information somewhere. Some sort of interconnected network of some kind
>>211788798he mostly played in tv shows so their isn't much, their is a tv movie called rosemary where he''s the lead but I haven't seen it and can't find much about it
>>211788902what we need is a database where you can search for movies and the actors that play in them, perhaps some kind of rating system to sort the good from the bad, if only such a thing existed
>>211788185have you gotten to amok time yet?
>>211789264yeah I'm on season 3 now.
>>211789308ah, well you do have the movies ot look forward too
>>211788983Are you one of those buzzkill retards who never asks questions and if anyone ever asks you one, you just tell them "uh dude google it lmao cringe bro"
>>211789552I did answer
>>211788904 are you one of these hyper sensitive zoomers who can't take a joke?
>>211789487Amok Time is what made clear to me Kirk is really the best friend a guy could ask for and even McCoy was a good sport but when Spock has to choose what to do...well...remember when Kirk was going senile and he opted to humiliate him in front of the rest of the senior staff and that Commodore to relive him of command? Yeah
>>211789616he was just being logical, kirk would've done the same to save the ship, remember when kirk started a fight by calling him racial slurs to break the spore control? its not like he meant it, it was just the only way.
>>211789725it wasn't the only way. the Commodore asked him to take over and even though he could have done it he refused because he wasn't 100%. it wasn't worth putting Kirk through all that when he could have tried talking him into it first, which he didn't bother with. Kirk's dignity was simply not a factor in his decision at all. Kirk would absolutely had NOT done the same thing. and it's not the same at all as when he called Spock slurs because that was actually the only way AND he bothered to apologize immediately. Spock actually hurt Kirk's feelings with that trial shit and he just walked out of the room saying nothing. also it wasn't even logical because Stocker had no fucking clue how to captain the ship and almost got them killed.
>>211789980ok now I'm remembering the ep better, yes spock was very cold, but you can see it pains him to do it, in fact he refuses multiple times if iirc, keeping any of them incharge would've still been a bad idea, spock walked out without saying anything because he was avoiding having a breakdown himself.
>>211790278well you just illustrate my point about their friendship that Kirk will think of Spock first and Spock prioritizes other things. I love in Journey to Babel where Kirk basically just anticipates that Spock is gonna be a stubborn ass and instead of trying to persuade him of anything he just goes up on the bridge with broken ribs and internal bleeding or whatever and stays in command so Spock has no excuse not to do the transfusion and save Sarek. Kirk is a fucking angel
>>211790609I can't argue with that, if you haven't seen the movies yet you will see spock finally get one up on kirk on the "who is the better friend" game
>>211790989oh shit didn't even realize, yea someone bake pls
>>211790989>>211791025Will be out of the oven in 2 minutes
