The body Rikyu uses is the body of Komahime, a girl that was promised to Toyotomi Hidetsugu, and was going to be his concubine. When she got to his place, she was executed for treason alongside a bunch of other people associated with Hidetsugu.

Her anger at being an innocent victim of a wartorn period led to her becoming a vengeful spirit. Rikyu, who also also died because of the Toyotomi (made to commit ritual suicide), essentially combined with her the souls of many other victims of the era.

For ease of knowing who is who, Rikyu has white hair and Komahime has black hair. Komahime is a 15 year old girl and is generally mild mannered but can be easily angered. Rikyu is a strict but inviting old man that makes tea, and typically works in merchantry a lot.
