The big issue is just that they have an overwhelmingly green roster. You take all their best guys they ever had and you can maybe make 1 hour of watchable TV every week.
Punk and Danielson should have been bigger deals, but they were too beat up and old when they showed up. These guys were hugely over with all wrestling fans, and were seen as getting over despite the WWE and not because of it. They would have made perfect EVPs or pillars to a start up AEW.
Their other big issue is their fans are too dishonest. A company like AEW could thrive on word of mouth, but when you have people lying about the worst stuff in AEW being their favorite parts, no one trusts them and they just think AEW is WWE for fags.

Well the major limitation of the AEW house style is that if anyone has an idea, they have to do it. Even if it doesn't make sense for the match, the long term booking, or the talent even being able to pull it off. If you think it, you have to do it.
