Only on paper.

Still - he raped and coerced a couple of bitches in his career

His peak was before his second return to WWE.

Nah, dude was on fire during his first WWE run. Great on the mic, great in the ring, great entrance, great look (not including height), he just about had it all
And I say that as someone who's talked plenty of shit about him over the past decade
If he was like 3 or 4 inches taller, he would have been the perfect face main eventer besides Austin and Rock. To this day I'm STILL mad about Triple Nose reversing Jericho's WWE title win and that shit was like 25 years ago, kek

By the time he was in WCW he was a solid in ring performer and good promo. His first mid card WWE run was great but he was working with goats. Over time it just became incredibly obvious his idea of "reinventing" himself was yelling a bunch of shit to find catch phrases and then to run those catch phrases into the ground.

Could they make their crash pads less obvious for fucks sake?

My first time seeing this:
1. why the fuck did they have the camera go so close to him if they knew the crash pad would be that visible after the fall? A distant shot would have at least made it look better to the TV viewer
2. They really couldn't find better material for him to fall through besides those square cardboard-looking things?

NO... he just came from canada and knew a few of the right people. steph supposedly really liked him hence his big push in the wwf. but he wasnt a draw and certainly never became a legend like hogan. they had him beat the rock and austin in the same night to win the title and people were shaking their heads because they knew this guy wasnt a main event wrestler

great on mic, just average in-ring
deserves hall of fame but I wouldn't put him in the top 10 of greatest of all time

I think they assumed the cardboard would bend under him instead of pop up. But even then they're made to look like it's the steel ramp, so even if they used a singular big piece or just happened to fold perfectly underneath him you have him concaving a metal stage.

No.
Chris Jericho has always been everybody's second favourite wrestler. People bought a ticket to directly watch him. But nobody bought a ticket to watch him win.
Jericho was like a fan in the ring. He always had a "winking to the audience" style which didnt allow people to emotionally invest in him as a character.
HHH is a great example. HHH was such a great heel that people still fucking hate him 20 years later and still think he was in charge of booking decisions. I mean, they KNOW Vince was in charge logically, but heel HHH had so much heat that they think that he must have been the one doing it, the dastardly bastard. Just in those specific moments where he did something that annoyed them, they know Vince books the show but that bit was definitely HHH!
Paul Levesque and HHH are different people. HHH is a fictional character and people emotionally invest in him to the point where they'd want him to win or lose. Like how people were clamouring for Roman to lose. They claim its because they're "boring" and then consume their content. Thats what heat looks like now.
Jericho has never had this. He never had the Daniel Bryan support nor the HHH heat. He wasn't as good as Eddie, who people did briefly get invested in.
It depends on how you rate wrestlers. If you're a workrate guy then he's probably your hero. But he never connected because he refused to stop being ironic and surrender himself fully to his character. Chris Irvine and Chris Jericho are the same person.

I hate HHH like none other. But he’s in that Curt Henning tier for guys that could elevate their opponents. He made you look like a million bucks if you were in the ring with him. And he was one of the best in his era in calling a match.
Jericho on the other hand was hyper fixated on making himself look cool in the ring.

Well the major limitation of the AEW house style is that if anyone has an idea, they have to do it. Even if it doesn't make sense for the match, the long term booking, or the talent even being able to pull it off. If you think it, you have to do it.

and even if they hit, it's a the opener on the preshow and they did it half way through the match. So the unsigned indie guy was suppose to have had been dropped on his head, on the hardest part of the ring, and then came to kick out of a bunch of stuff.

he was good in WCW but his prime was during his second feud with HBK where he punched his wife, HBK is the only guy capable of making him look like a S tier wrestler

Yes, but it was a very long time ago.

Jericho is better than like 75% of AEW's roster. He's forgotten more shit than most of the young guys will ever hope to learn.

Jericho was always great and at a time the best in the world.
Even his AEW run started off good, but he turned out to just be goofing off like everyone else there.

Hopefully he will get a clue and have one more good run before he quits.

This here >>18042071

The guy was a great talker, pretty good in ring, he could have a match with the best.
He had a good look and hit the weights, so he looked a bit tougher than say Edge, although Jericho is fairly short and Edge is quite tall.

He ran out of ideas when he got older, but the whole wrassling business ran out of ideas anyway.
His prime coincided with the best and most entertaining years of WWF.

I say this without a hint of irony, Jericho's reinventions were always over with me. His early work was good, me watching peak popularity WCW recently just proved that. Even with a shit crumb of time he got, he still was more entertaining than most of the show. Early WWF Jericho had moments... and that was pretty much it. I guess his first feud with HBK was pretty cool and his bouts with Benoit were good ring-wise. Never was over as a champion with me though, partly due to shit booking.
However, suit Jericho had all the dimes in the biz. >>18043336 This guy has it half-right, that feud with HBK was gold. However, that entire era of Jericho (even fucking Jeri-Show) was amazing. They should have let him win the rumble over Sheamus on his return, especially since his feud with Phil was also good. Even the reddit-tier List Jericho was fun and had a nice feud with KO.
Granted, I only watched Jericho in nu-jamal after that. Wasn't bad. Never touched AEW, but I heard he was one of the only dime-drawers there early.
So yeah, in my eyes, Jericho is a top 10, if not a top 5 all-time wrestler to me.
>>18043075 This guy also put it well. Although for me, he is over.
