As others have said, the Aztecs were fucked up. They were super militaristic and the local tribes fucking HATED them. Not to mention they weren't even from that part of the world, they were more like plains indians who got chased down south (probably for being murderous dickheads) and promptly set about violently domesticating the local tribes.
The main reason the Aztecs fell is because the Spanish had the backing of thousands of non Aztec natives who hated their guts for the commonplace atrocities visited on them.

I've been on speedboats. I don't get the appeal. They're boring as fuck.
I was recently talking to my family about how people mostly do things just to socially signal and not for any personal satisfaction. It makes you look awesome to have pictures on a speedboat, hiking in exotic locations, doing rock climbing, driving supercars, going to the gym, etc. But none of these things are actually innately enjoyable. Most of them are boring and expensive at best.
Nobody seems to understand me when I bring this up. My family sure didn't. They think I'm depressed or something, but I'm actually very content with myself. I just don't really have carnal desires or a call to adventure I guess.
My friends tell me that they're miserable when they go on vacation and don't explore the world and do crazy things. They aren't satisfied with just being with their families and enjoying the peace and quiet. They always have to be doing something. They're very busy minded. They talk about "spirituality" a lot, but to me it seems like they're just using it as a code word for social interaction... Why are they like this?

Retail is actually dead. It'll more to some endless evergreen type content with no new expansions after the last titan. Probably go FTP too and start selling tons of shit in the cash shop.
In some ways it's a monkey off of Blizzard's back and may allow them to innovate again. In reality they're not going to make anything worth playing.
