You can actually have more limited forms of government/society. You are just mindbroken by the current preponderence of democratic-republics which resemble socialism more than anything else. It's counterintuitive but, as I hinted at before, many incarnations of monarchy and alternative forms of republic have been far more economically free.

The desire for gross amounts of control, regulation, law, is feminine. It happened because we let women vote. Then the dam broke. Men by and large want to be left alone to conduct their business, women want endless rules to provide security and guarantees, this is why we can't have nice things.

There is only the free market and then the extent to which states intervene in it. "Capitalism" isn't a real thing either, it's just a free market. It's a spectrum from free to communist. The west is socialist and isn't honest with itself about it. There is a reason why republicans and socialists fought side by side in the Spanish Civil War: they are adjacent.
