hide channel is going to be the best for that but it's more animator focused (usually more literal perspective compared to fire emblem and other illustrator styles). still do the 2D trace over the hair though because the ball stuff can be misleading in breaking down existing 2D illustrations, it's more useful as a guide when creating and there is no one way to do it (contrary to what /ic/ constructoids who redline pro animators' art will have you believe)
