Do you really think it's impossible for them to have genuine faith? I've met many younger people who seem to genuinely believe in Christ and the Church. I don't think it's impossible.

Saint Basil the Great has a homily where he says that eating meat is probably a consequence of the Fall. God permits it but it didn't happen in the Garden of Eden. By extension, after the Second Coming we probably won't eat meat any more. We might not have need to eat at all, really, when Christ Himself dwells among us.
