honestly it more depends on stage rather than how far into the game you get, for 3 specifically most are linear but some stages like the hot springs, specter tv studio and a couple others have some branching paths, and that's true for all three games. hell the final stages in each game discard monkey catching unless you're going for 100% and are more just fuckhueg platforming challenges with your gadgets.
