this has been my experience with friendships. They never actually reach out or try, it's only when its convenient or easy. Lost a lot of friends during covid cause of that. Once you realize that the connection just dies when you're not actively keeping it alive making plans with them because they never do, it becomes obvious how shallow the friendship actually was.
