It is.... not that easy. My old friend was also my biggest rival. The new friend of mine and every new friend I have made in the past 5 years are all weaklings I can easily step on. It's not fun, not fun at all. And what's worse... the more I stick to them the more I become a weakling and yearn for the past. Asserting my dominance over them pushes them away from me. I have to control my passive aggressive nature around them. While the old friend would put me in my place until I grew stronger than him forcing him to get stronger than me. We had a serious rivalry unlike any other friend ever.
Someone like you wouldn't be able to handle me stepping on you all the time and you not being able to best me or have interest in besting me would only make things worse for the both of us. There's only one other person I know who could maybe fill the role but he has no interest in me personally since he's friends with my old friend.
