I'm only part way through but i'm still not sure whether a like it or not. I have a lot of mixed opinions on it.
It doesn't feel much like a rune factory game to me.
It's very streamlined and they've removed a lot. You just get hammers, axes, storage box (which is also a fridge) at the start.
The cooking/crafting everything is very basic where you just go to a menu and click once to do things.
Seems like they've removed most of the autistic progression elements that I liked but i'm sure normies will love it.
In spite of it being "open" in terms of environments the progression feels very rigid and linear and it feels like i'm always getting told to "go here and do this, then next go there and do that".

For example at the beginning of the game you grow a bunch of turnips in a tutorial. I choose to only sell half of them, because I figured I might need some for other things. Then next day it tells me to go do the first dungeon, I do it get back, then it tells me to build a house. I do not have the money to build it because I didn't sell all of the turnips earlier and almost everything in the game is still locked so I haven't been able to grind for money.
I take the turnips I still have, put them in the shipping crate, then wait till the next morning to get the money for them. I then get instructions that it is now a character birthday and I should give them a gift. But I can't give them a gift because I haven't progressed far enough to unlock item giving. So now that I have money I go and build the house to advance the story. Immediately I am then given a quest to simply "go to bed" even though I just woke up an hour ago. Now i'm fucked and have to throw away a day and also miss giving the gift which the game clearly intended me to do today because I didn't follow the rigid sequence they expected.

This is a minor example but I've felt this kind of thing a lot where it feels very railroaded.

I went to bed because there was nothing else I could do until I advanced the story (aside from kill some monsters again in the dungeon).
The main issue was that It set me a day behind in advancing the unlockables which prevented me from doing the birthday event because I couldn't give gifts until I went to bed.

It's not a huge issue but it is annoying that they force you into such a rigid sequence of events where in past games you were basically free to do what you want after the tutorial. Even the characters are basically all gated behind events and you only start the game with a couple.

It's an issue with the game that you can't really do much if you're not advancing the story. I guess you could just go around getting as much lumber and rocks since you need them for the entire game. But there's so much unlocked by advancing the story, there's almost no need to grind for materials, and as for grinding just to get stronger, even if you're underleveled, any area will make you as strong as you need to be.

Shops that sell weapons/magic have different stuff listed daily, some times having equipment that you can't make until quite a bit later so you should always have spare change.
Theres OP equipment that are just stat sticks of course but if you dont wanna engage with those theres also some equipment like boots to be on the lookout for that actually increase dash distance and speed that just make things easier to get around.

I'm almost at the end of the game where they have their Evangelion congratulations moment, and now it really hits me how they just refused to write anything important for Iroha to do. They have a scene at the start of the game where she says goodbye in a world where people can just teleport around and hang out on the floating isles without any flying dragons. She's allowed to care about the end of the world. Even Sakaki should be here, he should have been the Volkanon of this game. They're the first people you meet! Anyone is more relevant than Mauro "I'm looking for treasure that I have no idea what it could be or if it exists at all but I'm here to fight because why the fuck not"
And Pilika had SOME involvement, so why is she getting shafted too? I had her in my party when facing Kamurosaki, and then they talk about how they have to tell her later. There's so much of the story that feels unbalanced. Kaguya should be doing more too, and she shows only shows up for a scripted fight that literally lasts 5 seconds, and then disappears again. I'd rather it just be the gods helping me out for the finale than the game reminding me Ikaruga exists.

The interaction system is more similar to it and Portia too as you generally boost affection via doing activities with the cast instead of gifts, though it doesn't have as much dialogue and interactions.

Its looks pretty good docked and alright in handheld. As for the game itself, its fun in short. As a spin off it cut some corners (crafting/farming/cooking simplified). The combat is pretty gud, the UI million times better than RF5, all girls are top tier and the story is good too.

Based CF enjoyer. Honestly, that whole scene hit like a truck. You can tell the devs finally remembered how to write an emotional payoff that doesn't feel like it was copied from a shonen filler arc. Felt like RF3-level writing again. Maybe I’m biased, but when she looked at him with that watery smile and said “I’m glad it’s you,” I legit had to put the Switch down. Kinda crazy how one event can make the entire route feel canon.

there is actualy not "that" much difference per se, the biggest are probably

-your farm is your main income source and in later entries even the main way to grow stronger since runeys and rune sparks are giving you permanent stat buffs

>combat is much simpler and clunkyer, like pure button mashing, if you die, level up and upgrade your weapon, then come back and button mash again till you win, there is litteraly no strategy required

>crafting in 3 and especialy 4 becomes super autistic where you can smash all the moster loot on your weapon to permanently enchance it to ridiculous degrees
