God literally had blanket cursed the universe with entropy to keep man from enjoying being in this state and trusting himself or his environment over God.
It seems extreme, but when you notice that the way we think is predicated on super relative moral terms it begins to dawn on you that having both knowledge of the difference between good and evil allows the pride thing, and the pride thing is what literally allows shit like this to happen, the same dichotomy that calls for Hitler, allows gays to parade down streets.
Remember that, it makes further sense when the book tells you Babylon, which is really all of the worlds ideologies and ethnicities, languages, RELIGIONS. (Gospel isn't advocating for religion at all, God and religion aren't synonyms and never were) etc. Was split apart for the sake of keeping man from uniting, because otherwise what Satan wants would have been a cake walk.

Their goal is simply to turn you away from the truth; to demoralize you. To strip you of your identity and your heritage. If you are not following Christ, they are happy. If you are confused, conflicted, and hopeless, they are happy.
