The reason I liked Snowgrave was because of how it depicted abuse. Many video games attempt to depict evil and most do not do it in any sort of interesting or meaningful way. The ones that do usually speak greatly of the author's personal beliefs. Is evil just gross apathy? Active misanthropy? Or is it something more directed, more personal? The latter is a grounded and realistic portrayal of evil, a human and disturbing one Toby shows to show you not just through Noelle but also through how Kris can treat Ralsei, another character who can easily be seen as "beneath" Kris and therefore subject to all of their personal cruelties.
>You can easily judge the character of others by how they treat those who can do nothing for them or to them.
