>The game was FUN before the unlocks, it became tedious after them.
Then you missed the point of the game and the intention of the game. It wasn't about being intense, it's a delivery man simulator with varying difficulties of delivery that opens up more avenues to deliver stuff as efficiently and quickly as possible.

Why do you think you unlock roads, bridges, bikes, trucks, and ziplines?
Why do you think the Power Skeleton negates basically all weight?
Why do you think every single road outside of the one to Mountain Knot completely avoids Mules, and the single encounter on the road to Mountain Knot can just be ignored with your car taking like 2 damage at best despite 15 guys shooting at you?
Why do you think the DC added even more ways to avoid having to participate in dealing with obstacles by handing you a jump pad that makes your packages and vehicle immune to damage?
Why do you think you get heavily punished for being grabbed by a BT at all?
Why do you think you get heavily punished for killing anyone?
Why do you think there are so many side routes that completely avoid BT encounters altogether and get you to your destination faster? Webm related is the perfect example that completely negates the entire BT hellscape that is to the right of it.

>I 5* everyone
5*ing everyone takes no effort, you can literally just deliver the same stuff over and over for the EXP. Legend of Legends (of Legends) ranks are what matter and those make trucks and ziplines mandatory. There's a 1 and a half minute trip from the Distribution Center North of Mountain Knot City to Mountaineer you have to make that is impossible without a set of ziplines starting from the Mountaineer down to the center. Another one is South Knot City to Timefall Farm in like five minutes which forces you to set up bikes/trucks on each end of the canyon, transfer the items across (Since you need two trips), and a zipline system (In DC I assume you just jump pad your truck over).
