In high school there was this girl's dad who had died in iraq and they brought a fucking military humvee and helicopter to our football field and we all got out of class to go watch a presentation on why we should join the army instead of going to college and then they brought the girl up on to the stage and she had to stand up there telling us why her dad was a hero for dying in iraq protecting our dumb civilian lives and how we needed to join the army now to help avenge him or some shit

The whole experience was so surreal and weird and I honestly think without it I would have been a regular southern chuddy but that moment made me feel really weird, I genuinely reevaluated every point of my life after that and started researching other countries and became anti american empire, soyfags will mock this but most of them are probably too young to remember the wave of americanism post 9/11, sitting in something like that is north korean propaganda tier if you have even a single moment of lucidity during it I don't see how you can walk out thinking america is okay
