I've thought about dragging him by the horns out of the light world as he sobs and begs (me) to stop because he knows what (I)'m gonna do. He turns into the red hornband as I ascend to the light world. I submerge him in a plastic bowl filled with hydrochloric acid. The headband fabric burns and frays until it's barely holding together. I grab it and toss it back into the dark world. Upon returning myself, he is on the ground, writhing in pain, screaming with a voice that can no longer scream because his throat is scarred, his eyes open but seeing nothing because he is blinded, his fur falling out in patches as he squirms.
Then I remember that's just a horrible thought and (I) hug him and tell him I love him.
