I remember seeing animated parodies of Earthboudn in stuff like Nintendoo to the 64th power and not knowing what it was, then later hearing that it inspired a lot of RPG maker games. Emulation had just been made available on smartphones so I plowed through earthbound because it was sick and same with mother 3, both really resonated with my pre teen self
