I used to be a Nice Guy.
I stopped when I realised that women I was giving time and attention to weren't going to reciprocate and I was just a source of physical labor and free therapy for them. I learned years later that the female mind files away men she isn't attracted to in the same way it files away the positions of furniture in a room.
I never got to the "escape from the friendzone" phase with any of them because all it took for them to stop treating me like that was to stop talking to them. I'm sure they noticed, but it only came up once and the girl who tried to call me out was shouted down because it took her so long to notice that we weren't "close friends" any more that even her ride-or-die friends questioned why she was doing this to me all of a sudden.

The lesson learned here is that no, she won't develop feelings for you just because you are kind and helpful towards her. Pic related.
