When I set up an iridite planet in Spex I just had like 10 trains and 6 patches. The output of those patches is comically slow but so is the amount that each train can fit.

Basically trains would go out and sit at the outposts, once full they'd route to the waiting bay and then once emptied they'd sit in the waiting bay waiting for an outpost's output to have an open train limit again. This basically ensured that throughput from the miners was never wasted.

Having a waiting bay with a bypass directly to the processing plant did lead me to commit a crime against 1.0 rail construction however...
