The Shadow Crystals themselves aren't important, it's the experiences that lead up to the Fun Gang obtaining them that are. We know the Crystals don't have any effect on Kris's mind. But we do know that each schizoboss encounter forces the Fun Gang to grapple with topics they wouldn't have otherwise considered:
>Jevil opens up the Fun Gang to the idea of freedom. He's also a good foil to the player because he also recognizes that all of this is just a game, and he's the only free one while being trapped inside a Cage
>Spamton's a strong foil for Kris (especially with the phone shit)
>Getting the Crystal from the Knight shows the Fun Gang that she can be beaten with enough effort
>Gerson's whole thing is hopepilling Susie
The optional experiences that happen to the Fun Gang will shift their thinking enough that they'll naturally break away from the Prophecy. In a normal route, the player will enable the Fun Gang to seek freedom from themselves to avert the ending hanging over their heads.
This will be contrasted with the Weird Route, where (You) seek freedom for yourself at the detriment to literally everybody else.

Trying to make a Deltarune fan boss battle. I've been fucking around with GameMaker, and I have to ask a question (especially to the DRY guy):
How the hell would I go about making the battle system? Can I somehow extract it from the game files with UndertaleModTool or do I have to recreate it myself? I was watching a shitpost involving a mock battle between Dess and Asgore's car, and the creator said it took three months to recreate the Deltarune battle system.
