Forget Snyder. When are the pussies at Screen Gems gonna release the director's cut of Paul W.S. Anderson's RE Retribution? (Interestingly, BvS has a bunch of references to this film. Makes sense because even the butchered theatrical cut is amazing.)
The DC was almost ready for release, but Screen Gems changed their minds about releasing on Blu Ray back in 2012, which caused quite a bit of behind the scenes drama. Editor Niven Howie and director Paul W.S. Anderson have both claimed that the director's cut was a far superior, less spoon fed movie that scared the studio because it was purposefully confusing. The whole point was that the audience would be wondering what was going on for the first half, and then it would all make sense by the end. The studio didn't like this because they felt that the audience had to be spoon fed the plot every step of the way.

>We have no idea if Capcom will ever pay off that twist, but they're making strange zombie soldiers who clearly have Chris's face. It's the same face, just pale and bald.
Village has a bunch of homages to Retribution. Heisenberg's factory with the bodies on the hooks travelling along the endless conveyer is a very overt reference to the cloning facility with the endless clones on hooks. And the idea of clones that have the faces of characters we know is unavoidably riffing on Retribution, although they underplayed it in Village.
