I think attack on titan or a plotline similar 'ie small protagonists vs big thing' would be better suited with mecha.

Snail had the Arquebus higher ups send Rusty a job to have you followed and eliminated for entering the lower levels of Watchpoint Alpha. Rusty wasn't told who the target was and Snail used the job as a way of gauging Rusty's loyalties/potentially removing Rusty from the Vespers if he lost.
Notice how in the proceeding mission, Snail doesn't give a fuck if Maeterlinck dies fighting you and remains silent when contacted for emergency support. He was always taking over the Vespers from the start, cleaning house and replacing ranks with characters like Pater.
