To be fair towards this guy, I don't think I've ever heard of a PS1 dev talking about using the texture warping to their advantage. It was always something they just had to accept about the system.
In a weird way the warping might've added a bit more movement to the games. Nowadays they can mimic real time lighting and winds and all manner of hair and cloth bouncing around. With the PS1, the warping somewhat filled in that gap.

Idk, but I'm just heavily against custom sliders. It's anti-social behavior and removes from the shared experience of the game. Imagine if other art forms, such as movies, books, paintings, music had them? Could you even proclaim you experienced the same piece?
