Because no matter how many times a vocal minority says otherwise, a lot of people do in fact want an open world survival game where you can recruit monsters to do base chores for you.
That combined with them actually sticking them to the game and making notable updates instead of just sitting on it, purely focusing balancing, or throwing the game away to try to make a card game or roguelite or some other shitty completely unrelated genre.
