Basically for training, just follow this.
In the training UI, on the top left it will show Junior/Classic/Senior Year.
During Junior, focus on leveling friendship on as many Umas as you can.
During Classic, focus on stats, don't look at the amount of Umas unless they help you on attaining your stat goals. Guts is a stat you can ignore.
During Senior, focus on closing in on your stat goals and do G1/G2 races when your energy is low. Following this should easily get you a B+ or even an A rank Uma if your support cards are good.
