Half of the difficulty comes from late surgers or pack chasers getting boxed in early and unable to break out of the pack even if you have 600 Power. Odds are if you go for more power you're not going to have enough speed or stamina to catch up.
Unless you have a D or lower in Front, it's always better to put your uma in the front of the pack and stay there. That way you can put everything into Stamina and Speed and don't have to worry about being jammed by fat horse girl ass.

The thing is that career mode has a bunch of jobber Umas in the back half of the pack, their stats aren't quite there to compete, so they start dragging behind and carrying your Uma with them.
It's said that in PVP being late/end chaser have a better time because there's less racers overall and their stats are closer, which means they don't drop like flies.

The banner for that support card is really close to Mihono and the anime collab that gives you Teio's SEXO race outfit from Season 2. So using carrots on those means you won't be able to save up for the support card gacha.

Was just watching the Roach King play this. Genuinely one of those "Are ya winning son?" type of games. I'm sure the gameplay could be addicting, the closest I've played is the dog race from Majora's Mask.

I can feel the spirits of my ancestors channeling their power through me as I scream at my horse to lock the fuck in while falling to my knees in front of my computer.

Reminder that Horizontal camera and Vertical camera during races are actually quite different.

Horizontal is more like IRL horse racing, Vertical is more anime-like.

Aside from the gacha elements it's a classic stat raising sim. Think Monster Rancher or classic IM@S. Both of those series were great. It also helps that the main game isn't as gacha heavy. You can run a 1 star like Bakushin and succeed in career mode while losing with a 3 star. As long as you don't do much PVP you'll only notice the gacha side when you want new girls or cards.
