Keep in mind that it's not about the ability to be good, it's about motivation to be good. If you can pass the mission with ease, spare time, and +70% reinforcement budget intact by bumrushing the map while being on the lousiest, lowest dps, least synergized goof loadout, why would you go through the effort of playing smart? Why learn item + enemy attributes, optimal tactics, and target priority? If you really enjoy doing all these things then yeah, you'll be good and still have fun even in the most cancerous squads, but most people just don't bother beyond making things explode and don't mind dying their way to victory so that's 95% of the player's you're getting. It's just not the same level of passion that we had before. tl;dr indifference issue, not skill issue.
