HELLDIVERS 2 is a 2024 co-op, squad-based, PvE 3rd person shooter for PC and PS5 where players fight against hordes of alien insects, robots and squids to Spread Democracy. How to improve armor:

1. Let us recolor it. Just give us a set of stock palettes like with weapon skins, it's that easy. That way we can mix and match the fashion more easily, and even match armors to weapons instead of the other way around.

2. Give us a customization slider for armor rating vs. stamina. For each individual armor piece, we can shift the armor rating by up to 25 in either direction, and sprint speed and stamina recovery shifts in the opposite direction proportionately (e.g. for every +1 armor, you get -1 speed and -0.5 stamina).

3. Let us tweak the armor passive values within themselves. For instance, with the Fortified perk, you can change it to 20% recoil reduction but 60% explosive resistance, or 40% recoil reduction and 40% explosive resistance. Or with Engineering Kit, you can change it to 15% recoil reduction but +3 grenades, or 45% recoil reduction but +1 grenade.

I've been playing a swath of other games for the last two weeks after the super earth event and you know what, HD2 genuinely is one of the best games of all time. Not because its technically impressive from a game development view like HL2, but because the style of live service, number of patches, type of patches and responsiveness is absolutely godlike in comparison to any other dev out there right now.

Just compared to the bullshit being pulled in Nightreign, Dune or MHW it really makes you appreciate Arrowhead a lot more even for what few mistakes they've made by being so reactive.

The DSS effects are all designed like Arrowhead thought the players had some unifying psychic gestalt that would make the correct descision in ability activation and planet position when in reality they're just being activated randomly. We've had the DSS with it's correct ability on one correct planet a grand total of once since it was added, and 99.99% of the time the wrong ability is active or the ability that should've been active is on cooldown or gathering samples to activate. It's all all poorly designed and should be removed or reworked.

Sentries work best as fire support and distractions rather than your main source of damage. The gatling sentry is a lot less ammo efficient compared to the machine gun, and has double the cooldown time, so the machine gun is more likely to be up when you need it.
It's also a LOT less likely to cut you and your squad in half.

It's mostly just leviathans shitting on heavy armor on squids. You can manage otherwise. Backpack stratagems basically solve heavy's squid woes outright. Your favorite flavor of guard dog kills the voteless, supply pack gives you a bottomless pile of grenades to leave in your wake (I recommend sparklers) along with stims for sprinting, and jetpack outright just makes you more mobile.

I like gatling vs squids, but honestly if I could take MG sentry twice vs squids without cheating then I would. I mostly use it as a 'worse' MG sentry when MG is on cooldown.

just chuck it "away" from the team and preferably towards the left or right flank relative to you and the enemy. EZPZ. Damn near all sentries should be tossed way the fuck away from the team. This isn't teamfortress 2. You don't need to babysit the sentries. I guess AC and Rocket need a tad bit of babysitting but they still should be off on a ridgeline where they're not going to randomly flag somebody. Even if enemies manage to swarm an MG or gatling sentry to death, it's still a win since it pulled the blob of enemies away from the team.

i use the peak physique heavy armor on bugs with hmg on max rpm and it works pretty well. you still get swarmed but the increased handling and fire rate pretty much solve that for you.
supply pack and needle booster help as well for outsprinting them when you do need to run. heavy armor is doable on bugs for sure, you just have to think heavy

A trick that I do with voteless is I just pop them in the thigh with the talon. It's a bigger target than their head, and it reduces them to a crawling bleed out animation.

I've also been using the arcdog a lot. The teamkiller 9000 is really fucking good at fucking over anything that isn't a fleshmob or harvester. You just probably want to consider pressing 5 to dock the thing when teammates are near. It does make soloing objective pretty comfy though. You do need to be careful about purple explosive barrels. There are an obnoxious number of them loitering around squid city POIs.

I think the main "problem" with the arc dog, besides its propensity to teamkill, is that it is just really slow at pivoting. It's like comparing the AC sentry to the MG sentry. The other guard dogs are way more mobile and are a bit better at the "kill the one voteless that sneaks up behind you" thing. But the arc dog has more firepower once it is brought to bear.

Honestly it's a more consistant chaff shredder on bots than gatling is.
I know it gets a lot of flak - heh - but in my experience the scariest stuff on bots is the chaff and factory striders. Everything else just sorta melts.

I'd probably bring eagle cluster instead, especially on wide open maps against bots. But airburst really does some nasty stuff. Least when I used it.

Unfortunately it does tend to be in your best interest to press '5' and recall the arcdog when friendlies are nearby. So as a downside that kind of makes it a "dead stratagem" when teammates are near, but hopefully you don't really need a guard dog covering you when teammates are near.

Whether or not the arcdog is useful largely depends on how often that you find yourself running off solo to do things. The other dogs are a bit more useful if you're exclusively sticking with the group.

Strafing run mogs just the other option on bots. You have five charges, it's not going to randomly teamkill somebody 50m away, and there is zero need for a wide area hits since bots are almost always clustered up in tight packs since the largest concentrations of enemies are either marching single file in patrols or are being dropped off in a blob by a dropship. Difference is, backpacks like supply and jet are fun (and strong) to use unlike Orbitals that require only one input for you to get a x100 for free.

They both have their uses.

MG Sentry has a super short cooldown, so you can throw it down with zero commitment and make small skirmishes all the easier. It doesn't have a lot of kill potential because it has less DPS, but if it doesn't bring you results then you don't really care because the next one can be ready quite quickly.

Gatling Sentry has a bit longer cooldown so you have to make a conscious decision to use the stratagem and commit to whatever engagement you're in. However, it does more than twice the damage and will kill shit dead wherever you are. Where the MG Sentry might get a dozen kills and have trouble keeping up if enemy numbers get a bit much, Gatling will shred through everything without a care in the world. However, since it's more valuable you have to make an effort to place it somewhere that it'll do the most good, and as other anons said it's effectively an uncontrollable bullet hose, so if it even so much as points in your general direction chances are pretty good that you'll be sitting out the next few seconds while waiting for your teammates to reinforce you.

For me QC is good with light or medium armor and capable of kiting.
Killing one heavy every 18 some seconds is honestly pretty solid. Don't need to fumble with eats, or sit still and reload the gun. You shoot and go back to shooting.
It's just not really "fun" in my experience compared to eats.
I don't quite know why, when it has the hallmarks of expectations and payoff. But Eats just feel a bit more satisfying.

I think ORC is fine in cooldown because you get a free heavy clear every breach. And it's not like you're gonna throw it out when shits not going down.

I think the problem honestly is the power creep. Like you get two 500s to kill multiple heavies. Then you get rockets which all one tap it. Eats for instance are a 90 some second cool down, and you get two heavy kills every time. And it just compounds the more time you waste in a location.
Then there's shit like thermites which are just ORCs but a grenade, or ultimatum which is just a pocket precision strike.

If you can pass the mission with ease, spare time, and +70% reinforcement budget intact by bumrushing the map while being on the lousiest, lowest dps, least synergized goof loadout, why would you go through the effort of playing smart? Why learn item + enemy attributes, optimal tactics, and target priority? If you really enjoy doing all these things then yeah, you'll be good and still have fun even in the most cancerous squads, but most people just don't bother beyond making things explode and don't mind dying their way to victory so that's 95% of the player's you're getting. It's just not the same level of passion that we had before. tl;dr indifference issue, not skill issue.
