The internet was genuinely wonderful in its early wild west years, because the only people inhabiting it were educated adults with solid tech knowledge and plenty of disposable income. You could genuinely rely on the internet to give you something funny, original, helpful. I get really nostalgic over early forums sometimes. Now for every person like that, there's 2000 more village hillibillies, third world mud farmers, and neurotic teens. Not to mention the advertisements, holy shit the internet was destroyed beyond salvation when it just turned into one big advertisment platform.
