If you're not drafted in the 1st round it doesn't matter how good you are. You always have to ride the buses in the AHL or sit in the pressbox like Nikishin did these playoffs, despite clearly being the best defenseman immediately.
It's just better to be home in Russia and earning money.
The Hurricanes problem is that their scouts and management who are drafting these players are obviously on a different wavelength than the coaches who refuses to play them.
