The problems all started right before Niblock left when they transitioned department managers to service managers and cut Assistant Store Managers by a third. So instead of having a manager in every department, you had a manager covering 3-5 while also doing the cash office, customer care and delivery calls. This shit show went on for years causing a lot of turnover and no one had the time to properly train new hires.

Switching over to third party delivery was a massive mistake. They don't give a shit since they pretty much get paid per stop regardless. I was the Inside/Outside Garden and Electrical manager and I would spend around four hours a day handling fucking delivery calls. Now enters Marvin.

Installed sales got fired and replaced with a call center from Calcutta. Now any issues the in store installed sales office would handle get handled by the already overstressed department managers and sales specialists.

This is when they introduced a fucking internet order system (the same one Home Depot tried back in 2012 and threw out) that didn't interact with the in store unix based operating system (genesis). The other problem is there were zero restrictions to internet orders. Next day delivery? Yep. Even if the item is only available at the Lowes 60 fucking miles away. Somehow it would try to route it through the local store. Inventory counts were a disaster.

At this point every store is a barely functioning disaster and COVID hits. Sales go through the roof because people are at home bored, staffing goes through the floor because we worked off the honor system. Lowes must have been especially contagious because some employees would just keep getting COVID every other week for a year and get a free two week paid vacation.

On top of all this they decided cutting hours despite record sales. For comparison, in 2016 our store did 32 million a year and was allotted 5500 labor hours. In 2022 we did 60 million and were allotted 3200 hours.
