Literally the only reason it sold so fast is because the S2's pretty much the only console release ever to actually stock enough systems and not spend a couple years trying to produce enough to keep them in stock.
Ironically, sometimes companies use "shipped" and "sold" interchangeably, (since they make their money when they ship it, not when the system sells), so it's even hard to tell if they actually "sold" that many or not, considering most stores still have shitloads in stock.

I don't really have any horses in this race, (I just do PC and a retro chinkboy handheld,) but recent grievances people have include:
>raising the "standard" price of games again, and other companies will likely follow, despite $70 already being bullshit
>recently cracking down on emulation yet again
>Nintendo/TPC continuing to hound Palworld and stomping on them via stonefaced Japanese lawfare and ignoring other games that do the same things
>selling physical carts with nothing on them, pissing off collectors
>releasing a console with one (1) game and a gazillion overpriced ports, and between the game and like 40 no-effort ports, only four (4) games are "real" with content on the cart
>most of the system's many ports are of recent games people already bought for under half the price on another platform with the same graphics
>hilariously overpriced accessories, like a cheap webcam with worse video than my cheap-ass Android, with no mic at all, for like $50
>Joy-Cons not having hall effect sensors, pissing people off because stick drift was a massive annoyance with the S1
>2 hour battery life, limiting its usefulness as a tool to shut kids up
>most Pokemon fans with an IQ above 60 still mad at them over, well, a lot of things
>fans mad they spent close to $1000 after taxes on a system after playing MKW for a couple days and realizing it's not very good
>fans going overdrive into full defense mode and attacking people who mention anything in this giant wall of text
