It's got good aesthetic and atmosphere, fueled by a superb OST. It can be grindy and cryptic, and overall plays too simple, but I find that charming. If you're a fan of the IP, and are willing to look up a guide, playing this can be a comfortable and fun time.

I'd say fusion is one of the best parts... it's all about card types. A fire and a beast? Flame Cerebrus. A woman and a rock? Mystical Sand. A forest and a beast? Flower Wolf. If you get this and experiment a little, the whole thing opens up so much!
It's kusoge, but quite enjoyable in its own way.

This.
Now if you want to even play modern OCG/TCG you need a ton of annoying staples, though for real Yu-Gi-Oh! that was always the case, now archetypes at least change things up a bit, though at the same time it's like they made deck building more dull, I think the perfect middle ground was Duelist of the Roses, I feel that decks there were all about type and attribute, similar to its predecessr Forbidden Memories, but with more viable strategies instead of just THTD/MBD. I loved beating the 1st story with a Insect/Beast Earth deck and the 2nd with a Dragon/Harpie Wind deck, both were so much fun to build and use to complete it.
