i have control. obra dinn i played, while very good i dont think i got nearly as deep feeling as the other games i mentioned. probably because the game starts off with the magical watch and the squid attacked so i wasnt surprised that there were crab people or mermaids
>roottrees are dead

some people also mentioned outer wilds, void stranger, la mulana although im not sure how well those fit into the feeling i mentioned. havent played them after all

any games that give you the feeling of going down a rabbithole? like, not necessarily an ARG or an outright conspiracy thriller like MGS but where your understanding of the game's world or story suddenly expands and your stomach sinks and butthole clenches because you get that sensation that something 'isnt right', especially in a creepy way
example would be like in Inscryption when it goes from Act 1 to Act 2 and when you find the ID in the wizard tower
or subnautica where you come across the island
to an extent something like undertale/deltarune before the genocide/snowgrave routes were widely known and talked about openly

or the movie 'beyond the black rainbow' or some other early analog horror where you watch what is purported to be some obscure, lost media like a commercial for some new age science movement from the 70s, whose offices turn out to house a secret underground complex that is housing [REDACTED]
