its not the war itself, its because americans at home got poorer. i think the death has nothing to do with americas will to fight. but once you make it not worth it to work a career, commit to a family, commit to building a community, then you just get widespread apathy and a generation of people that dont just not care for the country, but actively hate it for giving them such a shit quality of life.
in short, our enemies were almost there. nearly there. but the american spirit truly is indomitable, even from its own depression.
