just bought a mint 86 e150 from a customer. 302 efi, nine inch rear axle, and 4 speed aod. He had all of his work done on it in our shop. no fucking rust for ohio, because it lived most its life in virginia until 2018.
everything works, every door every electrical item, every light bulb
I did have to delete the inertia switch since it was really worn out and triggering just running down the road. could've replaced it but I just bypassed it altogether. Wired in a fuel pump kill switch for myself at the same time. Speaking of fuel pump, tomorrow I'm changing it and the fuel filter. Only thing fucked up thing on it is the fuel pumps all burnt up early. We replaced it 2 in 2023 for the guy, and he only put 3k miles on it since then. So it's just a defective pump and Napa will warranty it out np.
I can't get over how much I lucked out. Dude paid the final repair, replacing all rear brake lines, then sold it to me $500. Like I said we did all the work on this bad boy. He's spent 9 grand with us since 2018, and he's just an old dude "Ive got too many cars nowadays and Im old I just want to see it go to a good home"
I am a miser, I will cherish and run this thing until I fucking die. 132k on the clock, I'm gonna flip that odo at least twice in the next 40 years

Found the Ford thread
just bought this 86 e150 with the 302 v8 in it and a 9 inch rear axle. solid fucking rig the things been maintained really fucking well, but the paint job and rust spots and bubbles leave some to be desired
I feel like painting this might be a bad choice, just because theres like one spot specifically that I dont think would sand smooth. plus in the future the paint would peel and rust and bubble again
would it be retarded to patina this with linseed oil? it would slow the rusting for sure and offer good protection in the future
