Thanks for the input lads, it still leaves my main question open, have you seen a good siocast model range?
Rather than parrot the kickstarter creator's points I'll copy his explanation verbatim, so it's clear it's his words. The guy knows how to do high detail metal (pic), so I find it hard to believe he's just wrong, but he could obviously be lying to make a sale.
>We have good reasons for opting for Siocast, it has not been made on cost grounds, but rather artistic ones. In our first Kickstarter we had most of the miniatures produced in white metal, some larger bulky parts were made in pressure cast resin. At the time I was very much in the “metal” camp, to my mind we were making Oldhammer models in the Oldhammer way. However, once I had received production casts of the initial release I was very disappointed when I compared them to my masters: there was the usual shrinkage but there was a serious lack of fidelity, the casts had simply not picked up all the detailing from the originals. When it came to our second Kickstarter, the Dragon, we planned to try out Siocast on certain components, such as the wings, where having a lighter material would aid the assembly of the model and allow it to retain stability. The results were very good in my estimations, and had been remarked upon by a number of backers. We could not have achieved that level and crispness of detail in white metal, irrespective of production costs.

Here are some fun suggestions for a dragon:
- For a tzeentch sorcerer:
Make your dragon look like a fish or other aquatic creature with feathered wings (with eyes on them obviously) instead of fins
- For a nurgle dragon, mix rotfly components with a stormcast dragon
- For a slaanesh dragon, maybe have it be a serpent with angelic looking wings. Or just have it look like a giant steed of slaanesh, or make it look like a dragonfly

here are some suggestions for a demonic mount:
Slaanesh: some kind of mutated zebra with a snake for a tail, or a giant big cat (tiger, lion or jaguar etc.)
Tzeentch: A big mutant fish with legs, or an ostrich but its head it replaced by what looks like a metal tower with a burning orb or eye at the top
Nurgle: A big manky looking rabid dog or giant rat, or one of those necromunda hellamites
Khorne: Juggernaut is the classic, but a giant bull or some kinda gorilla/reptile hybrid creature would look cool
