Kasen's ability is pretty interesting and ita new description by ZUN in the fortunes sounds pretty bonkers
She can basically do a "potential unlock" on you if you follow her instructions, and based on the manga (particularly the fairies one) she appears in it even works on animal youkai, the only exception being fish (from her own words, so it's at least not as effective for them assuming it's not just oni instincts to be afraid of fish heads)
More interestingly, humans are animals in the animal realm, primates specifically. This means Kasen could tell a person exactly how to become their ideal self, but only if they listened. It completely recontextualizes her nagging to just be a poor way of communicating what are usually her best intentions. Conversly it's not impossible that this ability let her accrue enough wisdom to become a hermit, assuming she didn't somehow get it by being a hermit.

Well there's a lot to it. Touhou's own lore combined with the mythology it's based on can get pretty crazy if you want to explore fan canon. Since Kasen is based on Ibaraki-douji you have an interesting journey of atonement too.
I just now found this design sheet of the 'fu by the original artist of her manga, which was used in an unofficial continuation. I think I'll read into it a bit after I wake up tomorrow.
