They have found pulsars with planets around them, but they're probably captured rogue planets and not native to the system.

Baader-Meinhof phenomenon or the frequency illusion.
There have probably always been the same amount of threads and you just ignored them because its some gay movie called sunshine.
Then you watch it, and it has context, and you start noticing all the times it comes up.
Basically your brain is constantly editing and removing a lot of extraneous details that your conscious mind doesn't actually need to worry about.
There's a great book by robert anton wilson (prometheus rising, or cosmic trigger) where he promises that if you follow the methodology he lays out in his 7 point program he guarantees you'll make the money you spent on the book back.
Its all about perception, and how it dictates reality, and how you can program your own perception. His trick for making you your money back was consciously looking for loose change when you're walking around lo and behold, I broke even.
