I feel like the episodic release is ruining the wonder of Snowgrave a bit
From what I can gather so far, later revelations are what's supposed to push you towards pursuing it as an option and discovering each step of it alongside the normal route is giving a whiplash effect where it isn't as impactful

The idea is clearly that you pursue it as the alternative after failing on normal route, and question your actions as you say to yourself "The ends justify the means"
