I'm a diagnosed autist with a relatively high IQ (according to an administered test) and I flip-flop between extremely high empathy and cold detachment at the drop of a hat. Everyone and everything makes me feel sad and makes my heart bleed until it becomes too much and I just check out and stop caring while my energy "refills".

I also have very few friends and struggle to maintain relationships because I burn myself out worrying about other people and end up self-isolating.
