but I think 2 weights was more than normal, in the video where that mexican dude takes a trip, around 3000 meters they lost communication, so they decided to go back up because it was dangerous and they dropped 1 weight
before they could drop more, communication came back so they continued the descent

but since they dropped 1 weight, they needed to use the thrusters to go down because descent was otherwise way to slow at that point

so when Crush dropped 2 weights moments before the implosion, it makes me think they they really wanted to slow the descent for some reason

they likely were hearing cracks or something that made them want to slow the descent that much

even his wife made a comment how they wanted to go down really slowly after reading the message about dropping 2 weights

so to answer your question, my guess would be dead silence as they shat their pants to the cracking noises while Crush typed the message

the sudden change in descent may have triggered the implosion

also, fun fact:
they found Crush's sleeve, business cards, a few stickers, and a pen in tact after the implosion

i always wondered why, until i saw the CBS Sunday documentary:
