Dream horror game concept thread
Resident Evil 7 almost nailed my dream horror game. The intro with Mia was perfect, that sudden switch from sweet wife to psychotic lunatic stabbing you with a kitchen knife was one of the most intense things I've experienced in a horror game. If the whole game had just focused on that, on Mia losing her mind and turning into a domestic terror, it would've been perfect. To me, the best horror is grounded in reality. And what's more terrifying than the person you trust the most losing it and trying to kill you over some imagined slight? Every man who's been in a long-term relationship knows that phase when the angel you married turns into a screaming banshee, especially during PMS or after some emotional meltdown. I'm not trying to be edgy, this shit is real and it can get scary. You want horror? Imagine your wife going absolutely feral at 2am because you left a dish in the sink. I want a game that leans hard into that. Domestic horror. Three rooms. Flickering lights. Bloody knives. A woman you once loved, now muttering to herself and hunting you with scissors. And no, I'm not talking about some anime tsundere crap like Miside. That game had the right aesthetic but it's still cartoony and disconnected from how truly disturbing real relationships can be. I want raw emotional violence, regret, paranoia, guilt, betrayal, punishment. A horror you actually feel. Of course such a game will never be made. It's way too toxic for today's world.
