I've always loved these characters. Both Stephen and Louis Cyphere stand out because they look way too clean and way too stable for regular humans in the extreme hellscapes they wind up appearing in, and near-instantly raise dozens of alarm bells. Seeing another frothing, gnashing demon on the road full of similar frothing, gnashing demons, but pausing to ask you for a favor makes sense because the world is already chaotic and dangerous. Seeing a well-dressed cripple casually moving along while waxing philosophical is borderline psychological horror in worlds like these.
