Just finished it.
My full impressions as someone that was quite happy with how things ended in TFS.
This was pretty damn shit.
>Kepler is a one-note location and incredibly samey
>The matter abilities are fucking annoying
>Lodi is probably one of the best Destiny characters in years. Great performance.
>Every other character feels completely phoned-in. Ikora especially. How they got a bad performance out of Debora Wilson when she is so good as Savathun is fucking beyond me. Hopefully she’s just filling in cause of the VA strikes.
>Orin is a complete non-factor in the story.
>The entire mission structure has the same flaws as the middle portion of Forsaken, in that they all feel super bland. The entire campaign is essentially just a chain of fetch quests with a bunch of inane dark matter jargon thrown in.
>Legendary was painfully easy.
>So many scenes that should’ve been cutscenes but were awkward stand-and-listen bits again.
>The soundtrack is fucking SOULLESS
The campaign presents these cool concepts like Lodi, and Ikora’s past, and pretty much everything with the Nine and their internal feuding, and just completely squanders it.
The only saving grace for this xpac will be if the raid and any surprises after that (lol no) have interesting implications for the future. But I won’t be around for that stuff. Time for me to move on.
At least I have my closure. I felt super content with how things ended in TFS, so at least this doesn’t really affect me anymore. I don’t feel anything really actually.
Just glad that I got to spend these years since the D1 beta with you guys, through the highs and lows, and that we went out on a good note last year. See ya later…
