Depends on the game. If it's a story you have no choices in (e.g. Zelda), I always look up the official name(s) and get annoyed if I can't find any. If it's something more free/open (e.g. TES), I come up with my own name

Sadly, most AAA companies and some indie devs(not all of them, THANK GOD) cannot grasp what color or artstyle is.

Without Onimusha we likely wouldn't have DMC or 3D NG as we know them, though with DMC it's really just the juggle combos that it owes to Onimusha, since a lot of its design ethos is actually pretty similar to Dino Crisis 2 and Battle Circuit.
