This is the shit i'm about - people not understanding HDR beyond a simple marketing buzzword that often isn't even accurate. Trueblack400 is a higher standard that displayHDR 1400.

HDR is a meme not because of what it actually does, but because it is not a simple on/off setting like it fucking should be because the big tech players in the space can't unfuck their shit. Basically no matter what platform you use HDR on for vidya purposes you NEED to have some knowledge of your display, what calibration settings mean (when they aren't lying to you or being uselessly vague) and what the reference point is. Even beyond that not all HDR is equal and focusing on just peak white luminance (aka the number slapped onto the box of every TV and monitor) will send you down the wrong path as there is considerably more nuance to it than that (though to a point XCR is an attempt to give a real use case numbers rather than misleading marketing numbers).
What should be fucking happening is
>Monitor/TV/fish tank/whatever is correctly calibrated at factory
>said display correctly reports its capabilities to the host system
>said system takes that as gospel
>source based tonemapping actually fucking working
>your vidya polls the system for the screen capability and applies that as a default configuration when HDR is enabled
>BONUS ROUND: MS unfucks their gamma curve
The fun part is that STILL wouldn't fix all of HDR's problems as far, far too many games have broken HDR out of the box through various means so at least in the pc space users have to fix it with things like RenoDX.
When it works right though HDR is fantastic if the above is done and your display has actual good HDR output (oled, miniLED and some lcd screens that have shitloads of dimming zones, but that is rare).

Is it even Vesa rated? Vesa is typically only used on monitors.
