So as expected XC2 is a better experience on the second pass. And not just because I can get to the good parts of the battle system or because Rex's movement is significantly faster. When Rex meets Pyra, even though Pyra is very pleasant in tone, there's no smile. She's not happy, in fact she's just shy of miserable. Considering the reason why she exists, I understand.

Malos also loses his shit when he realizes that Rex has made himself her Driver. And if that isn't evidence enough of his salty he still is after 500 years, he directly references their fight but Malos remarks that the Aegis looks different. He really should be thankful. Malos isn't running at 100% because of his broken Core Crystal but Mythra isn't either because of her own PTSD and defaulting to Pyra to act in her place.
